ROLE OVERVIEW

Westchester Publishing Services has a rare opportunity for an expert in print composition, digital production, and accessibility compliance to join our team in a full-time capacity. Located at our Danbury, CT headquarters, this role serves as a trusted authority across the organization, supporting production, sales, customer service, and clients through technical expertise, workflow guidance, and industry best practices.

 

This is an individual-contributor role with broad influence, working closely with multiple departments and our wholly-owned print and digital production facility in Chennai to ensure high-quality, efficient, scalable, and accessible content delivery.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production & Workflow Expertise

· Partner with the management team of our print and digital production facility in Chennai to refine and document production procedures and support effective capacity planning.

· Stay current on industry best practices—particularly related to EPUB production and accessibility—and recommend tools or software enhancements where appropriate.

· Track emerging technology and industry trends, ensuring teams are equipped and upskilled to support evolving production and accessibility requirements.

· Confirm accurate and consistent logging of essential project data.

· Monitor projects in progress to support timely delivery, high-quality execution, and accuracy in project status tracking and billing processes.

· Monitor production patterns and outcomes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability.

· Elevate complex or high-impact projects when needed and provide clear, solution-focused guidance to support long-term improvements.

 

Accessibility & Standards Leadership

· Proven expertise in EPUB workflows and digital accessibility compliance, including the WCAG standards that serve as the basis for the EPUB Accessibility 1.1, EAA, ADA Title II, and Benetech Global Certified Accessible standards.

· Integrate and maintain accessibility-first workflow practices, advising internal teams and clients on accessible publishing best practices. and integrate accessibility considerations into workflows from the outset.

· Support planning and troubleshooting related to accessibility requirements across platforms, formats, and client needs.

 

Cross-Functional Advisory Role

· Act as a technical and workflow advisor to production, sales, and customer service teams on scheduling considerations, technical feasibility, and workflow design.

· Ensure shared understanding, accurate technical guidance, and clear communication with clients.

· Address typography- and font-related questions, drawing on deep knowledge of fonts in publishing workflows.

· Identify when client requests or scope considerations should be escalated to Sales or Key Account Management and support those discussions with technical insight. 

 

Client Support

· Participate in client meetings as a production and accessibility expert to gather requirements, design workflows, advise best practices, and support specific projects.

· Serve as a direct point of escalation on technical, production, and accessibility-related topics.

· Support other departments and divisions by answering—or coordinating responses to—technical, procedural, pricing, and billing questions. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

· Significant hands-on experience in print composition and digital production within publishing environments.

· Deep understanding of typography and font usage across print and digital formats.

· Proven expertise in EPUB workflows and digital accessibility compliance, including EPBUB Accessibility 1.1, WCAG, EAA, and ADA Title II.

· Experience working closely with offshore or distributed production teams.

· Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills applied in a collaborative, solutions-oriented manner.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
